Scott Drops 8 Pounds, 6% Body Fat, and 3 Inches of Belly Fat By Burning Fat More Effectively with Turbulence Training

I am 43 years old as of tomorrow and pretty much have been working out all
my life.  I started when I was 12 working out about 3 days a week.  I
haven?t missed too many weeks in all those years.  I find that now I am in
my forties, it seems harder to maintain, whereas before I could consume just
about anything and not have it affect my waistline.  Not so much anymore!

The biggest eye opener for me was the day I started this contest and my
wife, Karen, recorded my measurements.  I got on the scale, one of
electronic ones that measure body fat and so forth, and saw my body fat was
24%.  The highest it had ever been.  Not bad I suppose for someone my age,
but it wasn?t what I was accustomed to, especially for as much as I work
out.

A friend at work turned me onto this program.  He and I have been working
out together for about the past 7-8 years.  He?s one of those guys that
research everything he gets into.  He told me about the turbulence training
and how it?s geared towards disrupting the muscle memory so that you burn
fat more effectively.  It seemed to make sense, as I for the most part did
the same routine over and over.  My body had become accustomed to the
routine and needed a change.

I started January 1st, a New Year?s resolution you could call it.  I chose
to start my transformation with the intermediate work out plan.  Karen, who
wanted to work out with me to begin training for her 300 mile bike marathon
for Make-A-Wish chose to start with the beginner routine.

The exercises looked interesting, a lot of challenging single leg
exercises.  This was actually good for me as for the past 20 years I?ve had
degenerative hip problems and I tend to favor one side over the other.  This
would help to strengthen that under used side of my body.

My only concern was the interval training.  I wasn?t sure that my hip would
be able to handle it.  I broke it up, doing the elliptical trainer for the
interval B work out and the stationary bike for interval A.  As it turned
out I didn?t have any problems.

I also followed the ?Holiday Diet? to go with the program.  I really loved
having that cheat day once a week; however, the initial no carb part was
difficult as I was doing the workouts.  After feeling light headed
completing an interval I adjust the diet to have a whole wheat bagel an hour
before working out.  That seemed to help a lot.

As I made my way through the intermediate workout I gradually increased the
weights I was using.  My split squats started initially with 40lbs dumbbells
and my last set I did using 55lbs, man I really didn?t look forward to doing
those!

I moved on to the Advanced work out and again increased my weights as I
progressed, especially the presses and pullovers.  The added 5 minutes on
the intervals was noticeable, I don?t think there was a dry spot on my shirt!

I chose to wrap up the contest work out with the ?Buff Dudes, Hot Chicks?
work out.  I really enjoyed the ab routines, the ab pikes generated several
comments from people in the gym.

The complex intervals were EXTREMELY challenging.  I had to split them in
half and run through them twice.  The squats were impossible to do all the
way through.  Jane Fonda would be proud as I definitely felt the ?burn? on
the 10 second holds!  I didn?t think it possible to sweat any more than I
had been until doing the complex intervals.

In the end, my final measurements show my having lost 8lbs and dropping 6%
in body fat.  My measurement around my belly went from 37.5 inches to 34.5
inches, dropping 3 inches!!  My belt is completely useless now.  I also lost
an inch around my thighs and butt.
